The Sales Tax Department has 3 (three)  Major Check Gates, in the state and these are:

Byrnihat    - Ri Bhoi District
Umkiang   - Jaintia Hills District
Dainadubi - East Garo Hills District

headed by a Superintendent of Taxes assisted by Inspectors
